George plans to ride around Ireland on bike

WATCH out ladies of Ireland, George Clooney is coming to a town near you.

The Hollywood hunk is planning a trip around the country on his prized Harley Davidson.

The Oceans Eleven star is gearing up to take a road trip on his motorbike, it has been revealed.

Clooney -- who has been inspired by his close pal Bono -- has said the trip which is now set for April 2012, was scheduled on a number of occasions, but fell through due to work commitments.

"It's finally happening -- I ran into Bono in Toronto and he's as much of a bike nut as I am," the 51-year-old said.

"He started telling me about lots of cool places I should check out, so I've committed to going there in April."

Clooney, who has ancestral roots in Ireland, will no doubt visit the home of his father's great-great-grandfather Nicholas Clooney, who hailed from Co Kilkenny.

Clooney's surname comes from the gaelic version O Cluanaigh, while his grandmother's maiden name was Guilfoyle -- a common Co Clare name.

It has not yet been confirmed whether Clooney's 5ft 11in WWE girlfriend Stacy Keibler will accompany the star.. The Oscar winner is currently promoting two of his latest directorial projects, The Descendents and The Ides Of March, set to premiere in Dublin next week.

Clooney, who has won acclaim for his work at the helm of movies, revealed this week that he intended to look increasingly towards directing roles in the future, as it has become more difficult to find suitable acting roles as he ages.

Speaking at the BFI London Film Festival, he said: "Hopefully, the trend is towards directing more because as, we all know, the older you get, the less and less roles there are to play.

"And I want to be part of this business for a long time."

"I've been directing for around 10 years and producing for a while longer, so I now think in terms of what the director needs," he added.
