Film star takes on soap star in battle to stay in The Voice
PAT Shortt's co-star in the award-winning movie Garage will be seen battling it out for survival in the Voice Of Ireland tomorrow.
The Herald can reveal how multi-talented actor and singer Conor J Ryan (20) will take to the stage at the Helix as he strives to stay in the popular competition.
A teacher of drama and singing in Limerick, he was also nominated for an IFTA in the category of Best Supporting Male for his part in the acclaimed production.
But he's not the only familiar young face who'll be competing to stay in the show in Brian Kennedy's category. Former Fair City actor Ryan O'Shaughnessy (19) will also feature in tomorrow's installment.
He played the part of Mark Halpin in the RTE soap for nine years but left the programme to be in boy band Mission 4 before entering The Voice.
Now both himself and Conor will be keeping their fingers crossed that they'll survive the 'battle' stage of the contest and go through to the live shows on March 4.
Meanwhile, Westlife's Kian Egan will also be living up to his Mr Nasty persona as he provokes a storm of boos from the audience.
"He basically gives some of the contestants a piece of his mind and tells them exactly what he thinks of them. But it's not just the other singers that he criticises - he also has a go at one of his own acts. He tells them they need to aim higher and the audience don't like that at all," said a source.
