Fashion frenzy for Orla Kiely dress that Pippa wore to Wimbledon
IT WAS game, set and match for Dublin designer Orla Kiely when a second Middleton sister showcased her clothes.
Kate Middleton's sister Pippa stepped out in an Orla Kiely design at the royal box in Wimbledon yesterday.
It was the second time in three weeks that Pippa wore the Shankill woman's clothing, choosing a cotton and silk dress with matching macrame jacket.
The 28-year-old sent fashion fans wild with her outfit, and by teatime the white and blue macrame jacket with three quarter-length sleeves, white trims and buttons had sold out in every size except 14.
The dress, reduced from £290 (€361) to £145 (€180) was worn by Pippa as she accompanied her brother James in the royal box to watch Serena Williams beat Melinda Czink. She accessorised with patent wedge slingbacks, Givenchy sunglasses and a white quilted Ermanna Scervino gold chain handle handbag.
Pippa wore the same navy blue dress to the queen's jubilee pageant.
Dublin-born Orla has previously experienced the effect the British royals can have on her business when Kate wore some of her designs. In February this year, 30-year-old Kate stepped out in one of her coats during a visit to Oxford and caused "an absolute frenzy" as fans rushed to copy her look.
The dresscoat, which had a retro 70s feel and featured a walnut-brown bird print, "sold out within minutes of her public appearance" according to an Orla Kiely spokesperson at the time.
