Dunphy goes on a Haunted date night
Married life is clearly agreeing with RTE pundit Eamon Dunphy and his new wife, Jane Gogan.
The couple, who have been together for more than 20 years, but waited until last September to tie the knot, enjoyed a pre-Valentine's Day date last night when they attended the opening night of Edna O'Brien's new play, Haunted, at the Gaiety.
Arriving hand in hand, the newlyweds posed for the cameras before entering the theatre with friends, with Eamon joking that they still regularly do "date nights" despite now being married.
Meanwhile, veteran Montrose star Gay Byrne told the Diary how he was flying solo for the evening, given that his wife Kathleen Watkins was enjoying a getaway to Paris.
"She was meant to be here but she abandoned me for Paris. It was a tough contest but I obviously lost so I'm here alone," he laughed.
Gay interviewed Edna O'Brien for his current RTE series, The Meaning of Life.
"Edna will appear on the series in the next few weeks, so naturally I had to be here to offer my support.
"He's on it the week after Mary Robinson and I must say I really enjoyed our conversation," said Gay.
Among those who attended the event were Breda Cashe, Frank McGuinness, Amanda Brunker, Maria McDermottroe and Neil Jordan.
