Des still single
COMEDIAN Des Bishop certainly has a way with words. The Irish-American funnyman, who previously dated model Jenny Lee Masterson, has confirmed that he's still single as the pressure of his hectic schedule take its toll on his love life. When asked by Ray D'Arcy if he was in a relationship, he said: "I've met a lot of nice girls, just too much travelling. I need to be trapped. I need a woman who has some metaphorical fox trap who'll just grab around my ankle and just go for it."
•Performers are being invited to come to the Music Show in the RDS for the chance to play with legendary Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones and Danny O'Reilly from the Coronas. The pair have signed up to the Wholeworldband App, a new interactive tool for the iPhone. A limited number of attendees at the February 25 and 26 show will be given the chance to collaborate.
•The Temper Trap have been added to the line up for the Snow Patrol gig in Phoenix Park. The Aussie Indie rockers have been confirmed as one of the special guests at the gig on July. Also performing will be Florence & The Machine, who will play a sold-out gig in the O2 Dublin this weekend. Tickets go on sale this Friday on Ticketmaster.
•Next Monday will see the opening night of Calender Girls. The smash-hit West End production will return to Dublin for another run, with Lynda Bellingham taking centre stage. She'll be joined by Camilla Dallerup, Jan Hervey, Sue Holderness and Deena Payne. Elvis: The Return of the King also takes place at Tivoli Theatre with Kevin Doyle as the main man. The curtain rises from Thursday to March 10.
•RTE's Miriam O'Callaghan will be cleaning out her closet for a good cause. The Prime Time presenter has signed up to help Norma Smurfit with her annual Spring Clean for Charity Sale. A yearly event to raise funds for St Vincent de Paul and Focus Ireland, over €200,000 has been raised from the event over the past two years. This year's sale will take place in the Shelbourne Hall of the RDS on March 11.
