TV presenter Daithi O Se (left) has revealed how he has completed his "last public duty as a single man".
The RTE personality and weatherman took centre stage at an event in Portlaoise recently where the Regional Finals of the Rose of Tralee took place.
Some 32 Roses were sent through to the televised event taking place in Kerry this August after meeting Daithi over the course of the three-day event.
"Most of the Roses reminded me that the next time I'll be on stage with them I'll be married, a sobering fact," he quipped.
He also defended the contest from critics and said he was constantly asked if it was still relevant in today's world.
"Well in my eyes it's totally up to date and is as relevant as ever. For all who sit in front of their computers and write negative things about the Rose of Tralee, just remember you have a remote control. Don't be afraid to use it."
