Cheltenham Diary: Busy Grainne is battling to make it for Ladies Day

GALWAY presenter Grainne Seoige looks unlikely to make it to tomorrow's much anticipated Ladies Day festivities due to prior filming commitments.

The Diary has been reliably informed that the glamorous mum-of-one was keen to attend the fashion extravaganza to report for ITV's Daybreak, but will not be able to get there unless she can reschedule her other engagements.

The ambitious RTE star first began making waves across the water this time last year when she nabbed a spot reporting on the style stakes at Cheltenham for the station's then morning programme GMTV.

Grainne proved such a success that she later bagged the coveted position of features editor with its replacement, Daybreak.

Since then Grainne's career has been going from strength to strength with her job taking her around the globe.

Among the big names who will be making the trip to the Gloucestershire racecourse tomorrow is actress Claire Sweeney of Brookside fame, who will join fellow judges Jackie Llewellyn Bowen, Sarah Apsley, Stuart Holmes and Kate Parker to present this year's Fashion Awards in the Winners Enclosure.

The glamorous judging panel will be giving away 5,000 goodie bags for ladies, with entries accepted up until 2pm.

Prizes include a year's membership to the Elan Spa at Greenway Spa Hotel in Cheltenham, £500 of Salon and Spa services from the Stuart Holmes Hair and Beauty Spa and a coat from the Cousin's of Cheltenham Tweed collection to name but a few.
