Cannon has a blast as she parties to get over a broken heart
SHE'S just split up with her long-term love Sean Reid but Xpose presenter Lisa Cannon showed no sign of a broken heart on a night out with her TV3 colleagues.
The Diary can reveal how the bubbly showbiz reporter put the pain of her break-up behind her to mark her 33rd birthday in style on Saturday, alongside Karen Koster, Aisling O'Loughlin and Glenda Gilson.
The high-profile group, with a number of Lisa's other pals, were spotted enjoying dinner and celebratory drinks at Pembroke Street venue, Dax Cafe wine bar, co-owned by Karen's boyfriend John McGuire.
Karen and Co arranged a number of surprises for their newly single pal, surprising her with a cake, before quaffing champagne into the early hours. The girls had been due to continue the celebrations at popular Leeson Street hotspot Buck Whaley's, but ended up staying put at John's bar, with the exception of Glenda who moved on to Lillie's Bordello to meet friends.
"Lisa was in flying form and seemed to have had a great night," said a pal.
"She's refusing to dwell on the break-up and was delighted to have all her girlfriends around her. They decided to stay at Dax as they were enjoying themselves so much drinking champagne and cocktails."
Earlier in the week Lisa's TV3 co-stars marked her birthday, which fell on Thursday, by surprising her with a chocolate birthday cake and muffins in the station's canteen. The brunette beauty had been dating her businessman boyfriend for over seven years, with the couple said to remain on amicable terms after growing apart due to their busy schedules.
Yesterday saw the presenter take off for London, where she is due to interview Hollywood icon Tom Hanks later today.
Her colleague Karen, meanwhile, joined forces with Keith Duffy's wife Lisa yesterday to take part in the Flora Women's Mini Marathon in aid of Autism Action. The Boyzone star was on hand before the race to support the pair.
Among the other well known names spotted donning their trainers to raise money for a worthwhile cause yesterday was former TV3 star Lorraine Keane, who ran for 'Raise Money for Ruby.' The glamorous brunette was cheered on by her two daughters Emeila and Romy, who joined their dad Peter Devlin at the finish line.
Pregnant TV3 star Anna Daly, Amy Huberman and former Miss World Rosanna Davison were also doing their bit for charity.
Herald columnist Rosie, who is appearing in TV3's Celebrity Salon, explained she would be keeping a low profile for the next couple of weeks to hit the books ahead of her final exam in her post-graduate course to qualify as a nutritionist.
The beauty queen celebrated her time of 51 minutes in the 10k race by inviting a number of pals to her Cabinteely home to watch the first episode of Celebrity Salon.
