A Britney Spears super-fan who says the singer helped wake her from a coma will meet her hero in Dublin tonight.
Brave Michelle Keenan (24) has revealed how the Toxic star, who chose her to join her on stage as part of her 'Famos 4 a Day' competition, has helped her through some of the toughest times in her life.
"She has been through a lot herself and I've been a fan for 13 years, through all the tough times. Britney brought me out of a coma a few years ago -- my mum used to play her songs to me the whole time," she said.
"If I got the chance to say one thing to her, that would be it, to thank her for helping me get through the hard times with her music. I'm extremely excited about tonight."
Originally from Castlebar in Mayo, the Ballyfermot College Media graduate has been in and out of hospitals for most of her life. She was diagnosed with arthritis and osteoporosis when she was two years old. Aged eight, she fractured her leg in five places and doctors told her she would never walk again -- but she proved them wrong and by her 18th birthday, she was mobile again.
Michelle had another setback in 2003 after suffering anaphylactic shock as a result of a reaction to her medication, leaving her fighting for her life in a coma. Then just before last Christmas she got cysts on her stomach, her throat and her brain which will require further medical treatment.
She has travelled up to the capital today for the eagerly-awaited concert at the O2 Dublin and also picked out a dress from Chica boutique to give to Britney as a present.
She made contact with Britney's boyfriend Jason Trawick through running the star's official Irish fan site on Twitter and said she was 'gobsmacked' after the offer was made to her.
