Boy band mania grips city as girls flock to see heroes

HUNDREDS of screaming fans descended on Dublin yesterday to catch a glimpse of teen sensations One Direction.

The hunky heart-throbs were here on a flying visit and fans from all over the country turned out as early as 6am to see their heroes.

They are over to promote their debut single, What Makes You Beautiful, and there was a frenzy outside Dublin radio stations as the boys arrived for a round of interviews.

But the biggest gathering was outside Spin 1038, which Mullingar's Niall Horan and his band mates saved for last. "It's great to be in Dublin, the Irish fans are amazing," he said.

Kildare girl Chelsea Keogh (14) made her way up at 9am with pals.

"We're so excited, we love Niall."

As soon as Kelsey Fagan and Sorcha Canny (13), from Tallaght, found out the boys were in town they caught the first bus they could.

While 15-year-old Sara Mitrovic trekked up from from Mayo to see the boys.

The single is out on September 11.
