Bono denies hospital claims

Bono has rejected reports he was hospitalised while holidaying in the south of France.

Media reports claimed that the U2 singer was suffering from heart palpitations and was driven to the Grace Memorial Hospital in Monaco by his wife Ali Hewson last week.

It was reported that Bono was examined by a top heart surgeon on Wednesday and Thursday of last week and told to get plenty of rest.

But the 51-year-old has claimed that the hospital visit was just a routine check-up.



Parents find travel stressful

More than a fifth of parents (21pc) who travel abroad with children end up wishing they had opted for a staycation because of the stress of the journey, according to new research.

Some 65pc of parents find long queues and delays the most frustrating part of a trip, while feeding and entertaining the family also provide headaches.

A spokesman for Gatwick Airport, who commissioned the study, said: "The findings of our research show that the stress of the journey is often sky high for parents."



40 killed in truck accident

At least 40 people were killed when a truck overturned and fell into a roadside pond in northern India today, police said.

Senior police official Brij Lal said the vehicle was carrying pilgrims travelling to a local temple in Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh state.

At least 12 other people were injured in the accident.

Mr Lal said the truck was carrying more than 60 passengers, and most of the deaths were due to drowning.

Ballia district is about 300km south-east of the state capital, Lucknow.
