Blathnaid ready to put the boot in as celebrities put through their paces

RTE broadcaster Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh has had plenty to celebrate of late after being announced as the host of the station's summer reality series, Celebrity ICA Bootcamp.

The Herald can reveal how the flame-haired presenter is set to make her return when the programme goes live on August 9.

Montrose veteran Blathnaid (40) overcame competition from fellow female stars including Lucy Kennedy, Sile Seoige and Kathryn Thomas to land the coveted gig, which will see her host all seven episodes of the reality series.

The Meath-born presenter travelled to the ICA's base at an Grianain, in Termonfeckin, Co Louth last week in order to meet the stars, ICA stalwarts Imelda Byrne from Leighlinbridge and Josephine Helly from Ardrahan, who will put the 16 celebrity contestants through their paces.

Blathnaid has so far declined to make any comment on her involvement with the programme, with television bosses hoping to keep the details under wraps until its launch date next month.

"Blathnaid was delighted to be asked and feels the show is right up her alley," said a source.

"She's already met the ICA ladies and got on brilliantly with them."
