Ben Kingsley's wife attracts the crowds to Dublin drama
The actress wife of Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley took to the stage last night as part of Dublin's Shakespeare Festival.
Brazilian-born Daniela Lavender performed an open-air production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in Trinity College's famed Rose Garden.
The event, which was part of the week-long festival organised by Dublin University players, based in TCD, attracted a large crowd.
Daniela, the fourth wife of 62-year-old Kingsley and a member of the British Shakespeare Company, was the headline act of the first ever Trinity College Dublin Shakespeare Festival.
Last night's event is part of a week-long mixed bag of festival performances from professional actors and amateur actors at Dublin University Players TCD, UCD and NUIM.
It includes guest speakers, and a community outreach programme which aims to bring Shakespeare back into school classrooms by providing talks on Demystifying Shakespeare.
Ross Dungan, director of the Dublin University Players and Trinity College Drama and Film student, told the Herald that a children's translation of A Midsummer Night's Dream would also be put on the stage.
