As Michael Buble set to hit the town, Sonya lands role in his latest video

DUBLIN actress Sonya Macari has landed a lead role -- in the new music video for crooner Michael Buble.

Former Tudors star Sonya, who will marry singer-songwriter Colin Devlin early next year, features in the soon-to-be released Hollywood, her sister Virginia Macari told the Herald.

The brunette's appearance in the Buble video is expected to see her profile soar, with the Canadian singer using the track to poke fun at celebrity culture.

Speaking to the Herald, proud Virginia said: "She's just filmed the new Buble video. She loved it. She posted pictures of the make-up from the set on her Facebook and it's really cool.

"I don't know how it came about, she was just asked. She thought he was a lovely man, a really friendly, genuine guy."

However Virginia joked that she wouldn't be using her sister's close links to the singer to bag backstage VIP tickets to his sold-out Aviva concerts next weekend.

"I'm not going, but he's brilliant," she said.

Sonya's plum new role comes just weeks after she filmed a video with rocker Ozzy Osbourne.

The Irish-Italian actress will feature in the video for his latest single, Life Won't Wait. The spooky part required Sonya to film at a graveyard in Mountview Cemetery in Altadena.

But Sonya is not only in demand in Tinseltown's music industry. She was recently cast in new drama My Democracy, which is being dubbed the new West Wing, and also landed a part in the hit musical series Glee, alongside pop princess Britney Spears.

Glee fans will see Sonya join the Toxic singer on the small screen when the programme goes out later this year, after the up-and-coming star was plucked from hundreds of hopefuls.

The episode will see American pop star Britney step into Madonna's shoes in a recreation of the pair's Me Against The Music video. Sonya also has two movies in post-production, including a small part in the new Adam Sandler romcom, Just Go With It.
