As bright lights and stardom beckon school's out - for now - for Jedward
X Factor sensations John and Edward have decided to ditch their education for the bright lights of the entertainment world, the Herald can reveal.
Since being booted off the show, all eyes have been on the pair, with numerous reports speculating as to what their next move will be.
And one of the things the boys certainly won't be doing is finishing their secondary education at the moment.
The 18-year-old twins were studying in the Institute of Education on Leeson Street before their debut on the hit show.
But the school has now confirmed that the boys won't be resuming their studies any time soon.
The school's 5th year principal, Jim Darcy, said: "No, they are not coming back. They've received other offers and coming back to school and sitting exams is not on the cards for them.
"They couldn't come back anyway, it was one of the conditions of them participating in the X Factor.
"They have been gone for three months, and they will be touring in Liverpool, Birmingham and performing in the O2 in a few months for the X Factor tour that the final 10 contestants go on. They couldn't be attending school at the same time.
"Also, they are being paid by the show and earning a living now."
Mr Darcy explained that the boys were not enrolled to recommence their studies in September as their X Factor journey began in August while they were still on holidays.
"It happened in August when they were still on holidays. We didn't return to school until September.
"It is the choice of the individual to attend school after the age of 15, anyone who is above that age is attending school voluntarily."
The duo were just one year away from finishing up their studies in the pricey school, but have decided to shun the life of 'normal' 18-year-olds in order to pursue their singing career.
"There's nothing to stop them from returning to their studies when they're older, but I couldn't see them ever needing a Leaving Cert again," he said.
Since being booted from the show, they have become the hottest celebrity commodities on the market, and have been inundated with lucrative offers including TV appearances and a number of commercial deals.
The boys were hotly tipped to replace Katie Price in the jungle on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here this weekend, but there are now rumours that they will be appearing on the Late Late Toy Show tomorrow night.
Mum Susannah Grimes has stated she wants the boys to return to normality and had pleaded with them to avoid entering the jungle.
"It has been a whirlwind ride, but difficult at times. While some people love them, others hated and booed them. We'll just be delighted when we have them home," she said.
