Aoibhinn vamps it up in leather

THE single life certainly suits Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain.

The former Rose of Tralee (27) debuted her raunchy new image -- and her sense of humour -- when she attended last night's Gooseberry awards.

The physics teacher has officially shed her normally squeaky clean look, sporting a leather ensemble and extra voluminous hair.

Wearing a leather jacket, leather knee-high boots and a black mini-dress, she was virtually unrecognisable from the demure beauty we are used to seeing.

Gone was her natural make-up, and instead she showed off her inner vamp, opting for bright red lipstick.

The brunette beauty regularly makes the headlines for her modest fashion choices.

But a new year marks a new you, and Aoibhinn has endorsed that motto with gusto, shedding her goody-two-shoes image.

And she was clearly chuffed with her new look, grinning from ear to ear for the cameras.

While most people have been known to give themselves a makeover following a split, Aoibhinn was determined to show that she isn't resting on her laurels since breaking up with Ryan Tubridy. The pair split last year, following an 18-month relationship.

Last night, a normally shy Aoibhinn also showed off a new attitude and happily posed for pictures with Paddy Cullivan and Dermot Whelan, who stepped out at the tongue in cheek event at The Sugar Club.

Although she wasn't nominated, she went to support the ceremony, which celebrates all things cringeworthy in Irish culture.

Some of the winners at last night's ceremony raised eyebrows, but others were predictable with Guns n' Roses notorious performance at the O2 being named the worst concert of the year.

Fade Street star Cici Kavanagh was commended by organisers for showing up at the event, where her show collected the gong for the worst Irish TV programme of the last year.

Controversial DJ Neil Prendeville was named the Worst Irish DJ, Crystal Swing earned a double whammy winning both the Worst Irish Act and Worst Irish Single for He Drinks Tequila and Ray Foley was surprisingly named the Worst TV Host for his efforts on Take Me Out.
