All about Eve as she lands latest role in period drama
Superstardom must run in the family. Actress Eve Hewson, the daughter of rock legend Bono, is clocking up some serious film and TV roles.
She's acted opposite Oscar- winning actor Sean Penn and the late James Gandolfini.
And now Eve has secured a role in acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh's latest period drama, The Knick.
The 21-year-old actress will star alongside Sin City star Clive Owen in the 10-part series.
Set in New York's Knickerbocker Hospital in 1900, the period drama follows the surgeons, nurses and staff who "push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics."
Eve will play the character of Lucy; "a young, naive nurse" who comes to New York for adventure.
Needless to say, she soon finds it.
Filming for the series will begin in New York next month and will be screened on HBO next year. It means Eve won't have to venture far from her Manhattan base – she studied acting at NYU alongside Denzel Washington's daughter Olivia.
Kristen Stewart's ex-boyfriend Michael Angarano has also joined the line-up.
Eve has said in the past that both her mother and father discouraged her from an acting career.
"It's because they know that world, and it's really hard," Hewson explained.
"For a young female, especially, it's excruciating. The rejection is awful, the competition is terrifying, and you're constantly up and down.
"There were times when I wondered if I was doing the right thing, studying when I could have been going to auditions. But it was important to me to train and know what I was doing," she said.
