Alex Reid is maintaining "a dignified silence" about the troubles in his marriage to model Katie Price, the cage-fighter's spokesman said today.
A statement released on the 35-year-old's behalf said that Reid "regrets that, despite the efforts he has made, there is a realistic prospect that the relationship may come to an end".
The statement came as Price (32) defended partying with polo players in the Klosters ski resort in Switzerland days after announcing her split.
She said she was putting her children ahead of any future romance, writing on Twitter: "Let off steam Friday after weeks of tension. Need to improve my dancing! All harmless and the only man for me is (her son) Junior. Family time now."
Reid's statement said the reasons that his marriage to Price had become "strained" had not been accurately reported.
It said that some newspapers had published "fabricated interviews with him" and that Reid was now taking legal action.
The statement added: "Despite numerous substantial offers of money, Alex made a decision to maintain a dignified silence about the problems surrounding his marriage."
Meanwhile Price confirmed she has separated from her husband.
The glamour girl said she married Reid "too quickly" and claimed he "changed from the man I fell in love with".
She said: "Alex and I have had a number of difficulties over the past few months.
"I accept that these were in part caused by my marrying too quickly -- we all make mistakes and this was one.
"However, Alex changed from the man I fell in love with and some of his behaviour became difficult for me to understand and caused issues."
