Alesha is quitting Strictly to join BGT

Strictly Come Dancing's Alesha Dixon is leaving to join Simon Cowell on the judging panel of hit ITV show Britain's Got Talent.

Dixon, a former Strictly winner who was controversially chosen to replace Arlene Phillips on the panel of the BBC show in 2009, said it was "time to move on".

The 33-year-old singer (below) revealed the news on her website yesterday and named her fellow panellists as Cowell, series regular Amanda Holden and comedian David Walliams.

Cowell said: "I love Alesha. She is feisty, opinionated and knows what it's like to be both a competitor and judge on a hugely popular TV show."

A spokeswoman for the BBC said Strictly's new panel was unlikely to be announced until the summer. Bookmaker William Hill has professional dancer Karen Hardy as 4/6 favourite to replace Dixon.
