Ah, go on, go on... treat yourself to a tea cosy knitted by Mrs Doyle

ACTRESS Pauline McLynn has decided to get back in touch with her Father Ted character -- by selling the greatness of tea.

The sitcom star become well-known for her famous comedic phrase 'Ah, go on' on the show and now the former housekeeper Mrs Doyle has gone back to her Craggy Island roots by launching her very own collection of Go On tea cosies.

And it seems that Pauline's latest venture is already quite the success.

The 50-year-old took to her website to tell of her relief that fans have been picking up knitted goods-- and also joked of her delight to mark her milestone birthday earlier this week.

"The tea cosies are out there, and selling -- thank you all -- and I feel great about that. It means I launched a [little] personal and heartfelt business on the day I thought I would spend whimpering in a corner with disbelief that time had 'caught up' with me. "As it happens, I had prepared for months, while knitting those tea cosies.

"So there I was NOT feeling sorry for myself = hurrah," she added.

"They're pretty and useful and so lush," Pauline said, describing the products, which tie in with her recent novel Jenny Q, Stitched Up.

Pauline was taught to knit by her mother when she was a child.

Customers will be able to stock up on a variety of styles of the tea cosies, as the Shameless star has revealed she is currently working on the "autumn/winter collection", which will include "sparklies" for the Christmas festivities.
