ONE Direction superstars Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson have found themselves in hot water after footage emerged showing them appearing to smoke cannabis.
A video, reportedly filmed by Tomlinson (22) during the group’s tour in Peru, seems to show him sharing a joint with Malik (20).
In the clip, shot in a car as the singers made their way to a stadium in Lima, Tomlinson can be heard joking about “illegal substances” as he and Malik apparently enjoy a rolled up cigarette as they are being escorted by police to a gig.
“So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days,” Tomlinson is heard saying in the footage, which was released by the Daily Mail in the UK.
“He’s (the police officer) having a look. He’s thinking, I’m sure I can smell an illegal substance in there’. And he’s hit the nail on the head.”
The video winds down as the pair near the venue and thousands of screaming girls can be heard.
Tomlinson and Malik’s bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Mullingar man Niall Horan were not present at the time of the incident as they are believed to have been travelling in different vehicles.
A spokesman for the band, who entertained 240,000 Irish fans in Dublin last weekend with three sold-out gigs in Croke Park, said the matter is in the hands of a legal team. One Direction are currently in the UK.
