Leinster star Gordon D’Arcy and model wife Aoife Coogan expecting first baby
LEINSTER Rugby player Gordon D’Arcy and his wife Aoife Cogan are expecting their first baby.
The couple are set to welcome their new arrival in May and are said to be thrilled at the prospect of becoming parents.
Former Miss Ireland Aoife and D’Arcy married in a lavish ceremony in Castle Leslie in 2012.
They have since joined forces in business too after setting up popular fitness studio Form School last year, with members of the Irish squad taking the opportunity to use its facilities ahead of the Six Nations which kicks off this weekend.
The Leinster inside centre credits Aoife and her “competitive business streak” with the success of the venture.
Aoife previously spoke of her wish to start a family.
“Kids are a blessing and we hope to have some in the future. But nothing to report yet,” she said last September.
While she is occupied with their businesses, Aoife does admit she’s misses her modelling days.
“I do miss that side of things because we’d spend so much time together. We’d have great craic during the day,” she said.
“I’ve been modelling for 14 years and I’ve loved every minute of it.
“It’s an amazing career and it’s not one you often see people getting longevity out of which I have,” she added.
There’s something of a baby boom among Leinster players.
Ireland prop Mike Ross and his wife Kimberley welcomed their second child into their lives in November with the arrival of Chloe, a little sister for Kevin (3).
Meanwhile, former Leinster player and Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll and his actor wife Amy Huberman celebrated the birth of Billy the same month.
