Weeping mourners have been paying their respects at the wake of former Philippines President Corazon Aquino, who led the 1986 "people power" revolt that ousted dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
Thousands of people lined up for hours to pay their last respects to Aquino yesterday at a Manila university stadium, where her coffin was displayed on a platform teeming with yellow roses and orchids. Some mourners wept, others clutched protest mementoes such as yellow ribbons.
Aquino (76) died on Saturday after a year-long battle with colon cancer.
Plane with 16 on board crashes
SEARCH planes are hunting for an aircraft carrying 16 people that is believed to have crashed in eastern Indonesia.
Four planes were flying close to the route that the Twin Otter was taking before it lost contact with flight controllers yesterday over the remote Papua region.
No trace has been found of the small plane which was on a 50-minute journey from Sentani, a major airport in Papua, to the town of Oksibil.
In 2007, the EU banned all Indonesian carriers from landing in the bloc.
Woman has gorilla AIDS
A WOMAN from Cameroon has been found to be infected with an AIDS-like virus that came from gorillas, according to French researchers.
The woman, who has no symptoms of HIV infection, is well and was likely infected by another person, not an animal, the researchers said.
Their findings suggest this newly discovered gorilla virus is circulating among people, they reported in the journal Nature Medicine.

THE first Guantanamo Bay detainee to be convicted under the US military commission system has married in a Christian wedding in Sydney.
The Australia-born Islam convert David Hicks (34) married university student Aloysia Brooks yesterday.
Hicks, who was captured by the US-backed Northern Alliance in Afghanistan in late 2001, gave up his Muslim beliefs during his five-and-a-half-year imprisonment at the US naval base in Cuba.
