Wexford champs show quality against Boden
NO Leinster gold for the Dublin champions on the Firhouse Road on Sunday.
Oulart-the-Ballagh were buzzing from the off, and it was hard to contain the Leinster express.
"They got two early goals and we were chasing the game after that," said Ballyboden St Enda's manager, Richie Sweetnam.
"They are a tremendous side. And they were absolutely flying.
"It was the best display I have seen Oulart give, and they are going to take some stopping.
"We gave it our best shot, from one to 15, and the subs that came on.
"But Oulart lifted it to a different level, and they were just so impressive."
The previous week, Boden secured the five-in-a-row when they overcame St Vincent's in a close and compelling contest in O'Toole Park.
There was nothing in it.
They became the first Dublin club to claim the five-in-a-row since the marvellous Marino achieved the feat.
"Yes, it was a tremendous season, and it was a wonderful achievement for the girls to win the five-in-a-row," added Richie, who is joined on the management team by Philip Larkin, Peter Lucey, Nuala O'Sullivan and Bernard Curtis.
Remarkably, there were a cluster of Boden players who were winning their tenth Dublin Senior Championship title.
"Sunday was disappointing. You couldn't take anything away from Oulart. But we'll move on now.
"The girls can be proud of what they did this season. They put in such a huge effort and they certainly deserved it."
