Beechwood's failure from spot boosts Celts

A'eal the points from Beechwood FC on a 3-0 scoreline.

The Celts were 1-0 up at the break through a Gareth O'Driscoll effort and increased that just after the restart with a second from Robert Waddell. It was looking cosy at that stage but the home side were awarded a penalty and up stepped Patrick McDermott, who had never missed from the spot, and blasted his penalty against the bar.

It was a let off for Celtic and one they took full advantage of when Waddell netted his second, and their third, to all but bag the points.

But there was still some time to put a bit of gloss on the scoreline, and when Beechwood were awarded a second spot kick McDermott did not shy away and stepped forward.

But luck was not on his, or the home sides side, as lightning struck twice and he fired the second penalty wide. It was a cruel blow on a side that were well in the game but on the day just could find the net.
