Walters to ditch mask
JONATHAN Walters is ready to get rid of his protective face mask because it's having an effect on his game.
The Ireland striker has been wearing the mask since he suffered a blow to the face while on duty for Stoke last month but it's now time for Walters to get back to his usual routine.
"I'm just sick of it, to be honest," Walters confessed. "It's been five weeks now and I've had enough of wearing it - so I think that will be it.
"I took it off and slung it to the touchline against Sunderland because every time I tried to head the ball it seemed to send the ball off at a funny angle.
"I don't know why as it's been specially moulded to my face, but I don't think you'll be seeing it again.
"At first it was necessary for protection, for obvious reasons, but now it's down to me to make the decision and I don't feel like I need it."
