VODAFONE were today officially paraded as the new sponsors of the Dublin football and hurling teams.

Confirmation of the Vodafone deal has been eagerly anticipated ever since the story was first broken by the Evening Herald on December 10 last.

The mobile operator will have their logo on all Dublin football and hurling teams from minor through to senior level. The deal is worth approximately €750,000 per annum with performance-related add-ons.

The company, which already has strong GAA links through its sponsorship of the All Star scheme, replaces long-time Dublin partners Arnotts.

The deal was announced at a city centre hotel this afternoon, attended by Dublin senior football boss Pat Gilroy, his hurling counterpart Anthony Daly, football skipper Paul Griffin, his team-mate Conal Keaney, hurlers Alan McCrabbe and David O'Callaghan, along with county board chief executive John Costello and chairman Gerry Harrington.
