Tractor Boys call time on the Hunt brothers
IRELAND internationals Stephen and Noel Hunt are on the lookout for a new club after they were told they would not be getting a new deal from Ipswich Town in the wake of their promotion playoff defeat.
Ipswich's season is over following their loss to Norwich City in the playoff semi-final, and boss Mick McCarthy has already begun to make plans for next season.
With Daryl Murphy - the division's top scorer - already a key member of their squad, McCarthy has rewarded former Ireland B cap Jay Tabb with a new contract.
But the Ipswich boss also wants to freshen up the squad with five players, including the Hunt brothers, set to leave.
"Of the ones out of contract, we have released Elliott Hewitt and I've told Ando [Paul Anderson], Darren Ambrose, Chappers [Richard Chaplow], Stephen Hunt and Noel that we won't be offering them anything at the moment," said McCarthy.
"I'm going away on holiday, they are going away and I've told them I want to see what is around. They will be doing the same as well.
"There is an element of freshening things up. We need to go again and you need fresh faces to do that so we will see what happens with those lads.
"I have not closed the door on those players. They are great lads. We might be good for them. They might be good for us but there is nothing happening with them at the moment."
Stephen (33) joined Ipswich in November 2013 after a spell at Wolves and made 40 league appearances for the side.
Noel (32) moved to Portman Road from Leeds in NOvember, initially on loan, and scored three goals in 12 games for the side, returning last weekend after a long layoff due to injury
