Setanta back DIT
Tuesday February 09 2010
WATCH YOUR HOUSE... Setanta Homes are sponsoring the DIT hurlers.
It's good news for celebrated DIT students like Kilkenny's Willie O'Dwyer and Dublin trio Tomás Brady, David Treacy and Paul Ryan.
DIT have also announced that they are launching their new website -- www.dithurling.ie.
Trevor McGrath, the MD of Setanta Homes, is a former DIT student.
"Having played in many a Colleges Hurling Championship game, I'm well aware of the commitment and drive that the players have to show," stated Trevor.
The sponsorship deal will be enhanced if DIT advance to the Fitzgibbon Cup weekend.
"This is a big boost to us and we'd like to thank Trevor for his gesture," said DIT Hurling Chairman, Kieran Brennan.
MARLAY MAGIC... Ballinteer St John's are busy planning for their big day next Saturday when they open their new all-weather pitch at Ballinteer Community School.
Both the club and the school came together on the project and GAA chief Christy Cooney, will cut the tape.
The club retained their senior football status with a narrow, hard-earned AFL Division 2 win over O'Toole's at Ayrfield last Sunday. Johnny McNally was in a class of his own.
RINGSIDE SEAT... NEAR FM (90.3) will be broadcasting all of Dublin's football and hurling games in the National League from Parnell Park this season.
Covering all the hurling matches is a first for the station and is a further indication of the improved profile and appeal of the small ball. The station has regular Dublin listeners all over the world who tune in on the worldwide web.
"We are delighted to be able to bring all the matches live this season," says NEAR FM's Fergus Carroll.
"We get queries from many different countries and it's great to be able to provide the service."
