LUIS Suarez (left) will start tonight's clash with Manchester City but is unlikely to be seen in Premier League action again until a return at Old Trafford.
Liverpool have until January 13 to appeal against the eight-game ban imposed on the Uruguayan for calling Patrice Evra a "negro" during a Premier League game at Anfield on October 15.
Should Suarez feature against Roberto Mancini's side, missing the next eight games would rule him out until the Merseyside derby on February 25, unless Liverpool overcome Oldham in the FA Cup third round.
If the ban is accepted after tonight's game, and Liverpool progress in the Cup, Suarez would return against United on February 11 to face-off against Evra once more.
Kenny Dalglish (right) has the option of starting his three main attacking threats of Gerrard, Suarez and Andy Carroll in tonight's crunch clash although the trio have only played 69 minutes of action as a strike unit.
