Wenger confident he can put end to Jose hoodoo
ARSENE Wenger will set another examination for his players against Chelsea on Sunday and he is confident that they will pass with flying colours.
Although Wenger has yet to beat a team managed by Jose Mourinho in 12 tries, he believes that the time is right now.
"We have passed many tests recently," said the Gunners boss. "We have another test on Sunday against Chelsea that we want to pass."
"We have not always lost, come close to beating them. Chelsea been efficient on set-pieces, counter attacks and we have to be ready for that."
The Gunners boss believes that they have been making the grade consistently after a poor start to the season and are now in a challenging position.
"We had a disturbed start to the season but since January we have done very well. We could do with 10 more games!
"We have an opportunity to show our improvement is consistent. Our first target is to continue to win and strengthen our position.
"There was a turning point last week with Manchester United not beating Chelsea. Now we can get closer to Chelsea on Sunday," he said.
Wenger doffed his cap to Edin Hazard, the player many are now praising as the architect behind Chelsea's season.
"Everybody would agree that he's had a great season. He's found maturity that he didn't have before," said Wenger.
Hazard is Alexis Sanchez's main rival for the Player of the Year Award which will be presentyed in London on Sunday.
"It's his first season so he will compete very closely with Hazard for Player of the Year.
"South Americans like Alexis Sanchez and Gabriel are ready to come into English football and they have adapted very well."
Wenger will wait until the last moment to make a call on Per Mertesecker who has an ankle strain. "He has not practiced at all," said Wenger. "If Mertesacker is not ready then Gabriel will play."
