Season is on the line for Rodgers

UNDER-pressure Brendan Rodgers' season is on the line against Blackburn in their FA Cup quarter-final replay at Ewood Park tonight.

Rodgers (left) refused to concede that the season would be a complete washout if Liverpool fail to progress but didn't sound very convincing in the attempt.

"I don't want to go down the route of saying that. Our objective was to win a trophy. I think if we didn't get in the top four and we didn't have a trophy this year we ourselves would be disappointed."

Reports of dressing room unrest and an angry meeting between manager and players were deflected by Rodgers early in the week.

But goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has admitted that the inquest into a bruising Premier League defeat by Arsenal began as early as the way home from the game.

"You always look for certain things you can do better and what went wrong," said Mignolet.

"I always speak to the defence and on the way back from Arsenal we talked through a couple of things."
