Students ready to frustrate Firhouse

Leinster Senior league

Firhouse Clover and UCD both go in search of the vital win that will lift them away from the Senior Division danger zone in Tallaght tomorrow morning.

The wrong end of the table is a familiar place for Firhouse. The Tallaght battlers have spent four out of the last five seasons staving off relegation, but boss Peter Flood would prefer to avoid another end-of-season dog-fight for survival.

Flood's side have played five times so far with just two wins. One of those wins came last weekend against local rivals Sacred Heart in the FAI Intermediate Cup, a result Firhouse hope can inspire a flip in fortunes.

Clover needed to come from behind against Hearts, but showed great resilience to etch out a fine result thanks to late goals from Carl Wynne and Darren O'Grady.

That streak of resilience has served them well over the last few seasons, but the Tallaght club would rather be safe than sorry this time around.

SENIOR DIVISION

FIRHOUSE CLOVER v UCD

UCD finally got off the mark with an impressive win over Phoenix last week thanks to goals from Cormac Suan (2) and Colm Feeney. Firhouse will be buoyant following last week's win in the Inter Cup and will target this clash for the full three points. They may just have to settle for a point, though.Verdict: Draw.

KILLESTER UNITED v MALAHIDE UNITED

After an impressive start, Killester have slipped back and haven't won in three games. Tomorrow they face their fourth Northside derby in six games. They have won two of the previous three local scraps and can make it four tomorrow. Malahide have yet to win and Haddon Park is a tough place to go looking to change that.

Verdict: Home Win.
