MARTIN O'Neill is now dealing with concerns in midfield as well as at the back for next week's Euro 2016 clash with Germany in Dublin with Stephen Quinn now a major doubt.

The Ireland boss will be keeping a close eye on the Merseyside derby on Sunday as he's praying that Seamus Coleman can win his fitness battle, having missed his club's last three games with a hamstring complaint.

But O'Neill also has to deal with a midfield problem. With Glenn Whelan suspended against the Germans, there's a vacancy in midfield but Reading's Stephen Quinn, who appeared to be next in line for a place in the starting XI, could miss out as club boss Steve Clarke says Quinn is almost certain to miss the Royals' league game against Middlesbrough on Saturday. "He picked up a knock two or three games ago. He showed typical character and determination to play through it but in training last week it started to get a bit too much," said Clarke.

Darron Gibson, who came on as sub for Everton on Monday for his first appeara nce since March, could come into contention.
