FIFA one star pitch set for December opening
The Meath and District League have signed a contract with the Wexford-based Crawford Group to install a full sized (100m X 62M) FIFA 1 'star' synthetic All Weather pitch at the MDL grounds in Navan.
The engaging of their services has followed on from years of planning to finally deliver what will be essentially the first full sized pitch of its kind to service the needs of association football within Meath.
Aside of the pitch installation the area earmarked will also be firmly secured with a top of the range fencing surround, measuring 2.5 metres in height, and a two metre overspill of carpet will lead on to a 2.5 metre of a tarmacadam finished pathway.
The Crawford Group will utilise local contractors and suppliers as Michael Rock plant hire from Slane are earmarked for the first stage of the development which entails all necessary ground leveling, drainage, and stone compaction prior to carpet laying.
The total cost of the present development is €350,000, of which €250,000 has been secured through a Sports Capital Grant. The shortfall shall be made up from the Meath & District League of €60,000, and the North Eastern Counties Schoolboys League with €40,000. The work is due to begin on the first week in September, and it is estimated to take three months before completion.
