Sherwood joy as Villa one win from Premier safety

Tim Sherwood wishes he could roll back the years and pull on his boots again - so he could play with Irish teenager Jack Grealish.

The Ireland U21 cap put on yet another classy display for Villa in Saturday's Premier League win over West Ham and boss Sherwood, who has compared Grealish to the former England star Chris Waddle, would have loved to be in the same side as him.

"I would love to play with Jack Grealish, because every time he gets on the ball I know he's going to create a chance for me," said Sherwood.

"He does it every day in training but it's a bit different doing of 39,000 fans. But he's not fazed and he creates some chances.

"I can see the boys are getting to know him as it's only recently that he's been training on a regular basis with them, now they know him and they realise what a real talent he is.

"He's got pace, he is deceptive, he's got that Chris Waddle style, that languishing style and if he can be half the player Chris Waddle was, we've got a real player on our hands," added Sherwood, who has targeted two wins to guarantee survival for Aston Villa but they are closing in on their goal.

Villa have two games left and go to Southampton next weekend before a home finale with relegated Burnley. One win would make Villa's safety certain, although they may already have sufficient points.

Sherwood said: "We are going in the right direction. A couple more wins and we will be all right. We limited West Ham to one header at goal which was James Collins and you expect Shay Given to save."
