Serbia have vowed to put up a united front when they face Ireland in a key World Cup qualifier in Belgrade next month.

Still smarting for a poor showing in the Euro 2016 qualifiers, Serbia began preparations yesterday for that September 5th meeting with Ireland as coach Slavoljub Muslin named a 26-man squad.

Premier League stars Nemanja Matic (Chelsea) and Aleksandar Kolarov (Manchester City) were named at the end of the 26-strong panel, even though both men are suspended for Ireland's visit to Belgrade, their presence in Serbia for the game as non-playing contributors a sign of their commitment, their boss says.

"They wanted to be with the team, wanted to be in the same environment as the team as they want to help in any way they can," says manager Muslin.

"This is a difficult game for us, Ireland showed at Euro 2016 what a strong side they are but we have done our research and we will be well prepared."

Tickets for the Belgrade game are on sale to home fans for as little as €3.20.
