Rovers to ban away day rioters – Roche
SHAMROCK ROVERS have promised to identify and ban the supporters who caused disturbances in Belfast during Monday's Setanta Sports Cup clash with Linfield, writes AIDAN FITZMAURICE.
The PSNI were called in to deal with a small section of the Hoops support in Windsor Park and club chairman Jonathan Roche says Rovers are taking the matter seriously.
"We had 600 fans there but there were 20-30 people who let the club down and embarrassed everybody," said Roche.
"The people involved are clearly identified, or they will be as they are on CCTV. They won't be allowed into our home matches and we will do our best to prevent them going to away matches. It was embarrassing.
"The bans are indefinite, we don't want these people around. It looked a lot worse than it was but it was totally unacceptable. I was in the directors' box and I was embarrassed," added Roche.
Rovers have announced a new feature of their sponsorship with SEAT where anyone who buys a SEAT from AutoDynamic can get a personalised parking space at Tallaght Stadium.
