CONFIDENT Kenny Dalglish is ready for the next phase of Liverpool's mission to muscle both Manchester clubs out of Cup competition - but Wayne Rooney is lurking in the long grass.

An emotional Dalglish could hardly contain his delight after a 2-2 draw with Manchester City was enough to send Liverpool into the Carling Cup final against Cardiff and heap pressure onto Roberto Mancini.

"This is a huge reward for everybody who has got an affiliation for Liverpool in any way, shape or form.

"We know where we are going. Maybe we have forgotten the route, but I am sure the driver will remember," laughed Dalglish.

However, Rooney is promising a very focused Manchester United for Saturday's FA Cup showdown with Dalglish's team after a very light workload in recent weeks.

"It's been quite an unusual period in that we've only had one game a week.

"We have got some good training in and that will benefit us going into the next few games.

"I always feel we are at our best around now because we can see the end of the season and that there are trophies there to be won," said Rooney.
