Rodriguez on United radar
Madrid star set to make move to Old Trafford
Manchester United are set to begin a major overhaul of their squad by agreeing a deal for Real Madrid striker James Rodriguez.
Reports in Rodriguez's native Colombia suggest that United will announce the deal as early as this Sunday.
United executive director Ed Woodward is currently working on manager Jose Mourinho's summer transfer targets - with Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and Benfica midfielder Bernardo Silva also coveted by the Portuguese. Rodriguez and Mourinho share the same agent - Jorge Mendes - and it was reported in Spain that Mendes has held a meeting with Madrid's president, Florentino Perez, to confirm that the midfielder wants to leave.
The mega-million signings of Rodriguez and Griezmann could spell bad news for Anthony Martial, while the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, currently recuperating from a knee operation, is still up in the air.
The future of goalkeeper David de Gea is also up in the air as the Spanish international has been linked with a move to Real.
Woodward, meanwhile, was glowing in his praise of Mourinho yesterday as the club predicted record revenues of up to £570million this year. "I believe we've made tremendous progress, both on and off the pitch," Woodward said.
