Rodgers is open to Stevie G loan possibilities next season
STEVIE G is off to Hollywood and Brendan Rodgers has borrowed from a movie icon to hint at a swift return; to Anfield:"He'll be back".
Rodgers spoke about two avenues which might bring Gerrard back to Anfield, as early as next January as a loanee or as a coach when he hangs up his boots.
"He's somebody I'd love to have working with me when he has finished playing. That opportunity for him to come back will be there for as long as I'm here," said Rodgers today.
And a possible loan move next season?
"We haven't spoken about it. We will see how it pans out," said Rodgers. "A loan is something that may be a possibility down the line."
Asked to sum up Gerrard in a word, the Anfield boss said: "The word I would describe him as is 'Liverpool'. Not just the club, not just the supporters but the city. This is a guy who loves looking after his city. He had numerous opportunities to move from here for prestigious clubs but this is his city.
"This is his club. What he has given to this city, politicians haven't given to this city. The work with local hospitals, charity work, it is unheralded. Wonderful, an icon."
