Robbie Keane joins campaign to honour Dubliner Patrick O'Connell who managed Barcelona

IRELAND captain Robbie Keane has signed up to help with the campaign to honour Patrick O'Connell, the Dubliner who achieved fame in Spain as manager of Barcelona.

Fund-raising and awareness-raising efforts are ongoing in Spain, Ireland and the UK to honour the memory of O'Connell, who died in poverty in England in 1959 and was buried in an unmarked grave in London.

The first Irishman to manage Manchester United will be recognised at at event in Manchester next Friday, where a Euro 88 jersey, signed by the best-ever Ireland XI, will be auctioned, Robbie Keane (left) the last to sign.
