Republic of Ireland up four FIFA places to 62 in the world
THE Republic of Ireland have managed to claw their way back up the table in the FIFA rankings as Martin O'Neill's side are now up to 62nd in the world.
Despite dropping points at home to Poland in a Euro 2016 qualifier last month, Ireland have moved up four places.
That's still below close neighbours England (14), Wales (22), Scotland (29) and Northern Ireland (42).
Euro 2016 rivals Germany are top of the pile, ranked first in the world but Poland move down one place, to 35th, and Georgia drop to 138th.
Moving up four places is an unexpected bonus for Ireland as they move away from the unwanted worst-ever ranking of 70th place.
