IRELAND defender Alex Pearce has warned his Reading team-mates to expect a battle against relegation-threatened Rotherham United.

Despite being docked three points for fielding an ineligible player, Rotherham can still secure Championship survival - and relegate Millwall and Wigan - if they can win at home to Reading tonight.

"Rotherham are going to be fighting for their lives and we all know that," said Reading captain Pearce.

"It's not going to be a game for the fainthearted because they're going to be up for it and we're going to have to match them.

"I'd like to think that if we do match them, then on the night we'll have the better players on the field to win the game. There's no doubt it's going to be tough, though."

Wigan and Millwall will be relegated along with Blackpool if Reading lose.
