Pressure off Martinez as Hornets halt Chelsea
Everton's first home league win since November eased some pressure on manager Roberto Martinez last night.
A first-half goal from Aaron Lennon and two late Ross Barkley penalties secured a 3-0 victory Newcastle side which lacked cohesion or any semblance of a game plan and who defended haphazardly at best.
Watford put the brakes on Chelsea's resurgence by holding the champions to a 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road last night. Chelsea, unbeaten under Guus Hiddink, were unable to find a way through a rock-solid Watford rearguard, with the hosts creating the better opportunities on a night of few chances.
Meanwhile, Radamel Falcao has been dropped from Chelsea's Champions League squad and will likely leave summer but the Colombian won't leave empty-handed.
After two loan seasons at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, Falcao has earned over £20m but managed less than 20 starts and just one in the Premier League for Chelsea.
He's attracted some interest from China despite his massive wage bill which stems from his his €60m move to Monaco.
