Phelan eyes six players
Hull City want to sign six new players before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, interim manager Mike Phelan said.
Newly promoted Hull began the season in disarray due to an ongoing takeover and an injury crisis, yet despite having only 13 fit first-team players they beat defending champions Leicester City 2-1 in their Premier League opener before dispatching Swansea City 2-0 away on Saturday.
"We have agreed fees with clubs for players, we just have to pursue those before the deadline," Phelan (below) said. "We need as many as we can get. We talked about six, it may be more or it may be less.
"We have to be realistic. We have to get football players in but they cost a lot of money. We are ready, if we can press the right buttons, to do some deals."
Phelan hosts former club Manchester United - where he spent 14 years as part of Alex Ferguson's backroom staff - this evening.
