Pardew eyes more faces
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is keeping his fingers crossed that a fifth summer signing will arrive on Tyneside within the next 24 hours.
Holland full-back Daryl Janmaat's agent has claimed the 24-year-old is due in the north-east after significant progress in talks between the Magpies and his current club Feyenoord.
Sources on Tyneside were giving little away, but there is growing optimism that Janmaat could become the club's latest new recruit.
Should Newcastle manage to complete the deal, that would open the door for Mathieu Debuchy's move to Arsenal with the Gunners confident they have got their man, but unable to complete the formalities until their Premier League rivals have a replacement on board.
A successful swoop for Janmaat, who has just returned from World Cup finals duty in Brazil, would represent another breakthrough for Pardew, who added France midfielder Remy Cabella to his squad on Sunday night.
The Magpies agreed a deal for the former Montpellier man for a little more than £7million.
