New signing Corcoran checks in at Saints
Having finished a disappointing 20 points off the pace in the 2015 title race, St Patrick's Athletic have made a statement of their intent for 2016 with the signing of striker Dinny Corcoran while they also agreed new terms with two current players.
League of Ireland managers now have a bit more clarity in terms of the season ahead as the FAI have confirmed the season schedule for 2016: the league season will start on March 4 and will finish with the FAI Cup final on November 6th. Due to the counter-attrraction of Ireland's participation at Euro 2016, the league will have a midseason break, from June 6 to 23.
Champions in 2013, St Pats will hope to be more competitive than this year's fourth-place finish. Boss Liam Buckley has gave Saints fans a boost in the last 24 hours as he signed up striker Dinny Corcoran, a key figure for Sligo Rovers in their successful battle against relegation last season.
Saints supporters aware that Corcoran scored both goals for Sligo in a 2-0 win away to Pats which effectively achieved safety for Rovers.
Corcoran, who previously had a spell in the Saints' U20 squad, is the fourth major signing, following the earlier captures of Keith Treacy (Drogheda), Mark Timlin (Derry) and Graham Kelly (Bray).
But Pats fans are also pleased to see that long-serving defender Ian Bermingham has agreed a new deal while the Inchicore club also confirmed that Chris Fagan is staying.
