New faces in King's Irish U21 squad for Euro date
NOEL King hopes that an injection of fresh talent can give his Ireland U21 side a boost in their bid to qualify for the European Championship finals for the first time.
The Irish U21s begin the qualifying campaign for the Euro 2017 finals, to be held in Poland, later this month as they face Andorra in a qualifier in Waterford on Thursday March 26th.
King has stuck with some players who impressed when they came onto the scene in a series of friendlies last year such as Manchester City prospect Jack Byrne, Fulham star Sean Kavanagh and St Pats defender Lee Desmond.
But King's scouting network has found a few potential gems. Reading defender Niall Keown is in an Ireland squad for the first time (see page 67), Oxford man Callum O'Dowda also gets a call-up along with Brighton forward Shamir Fenelon
