New boys impress Sean
Sean Gannon feels that the new arrivals in the Dundalk dressing room have the required desire to make sure the SSE Airtricity League champions hold onto their title yet again
The Dundalk squad for 2017 will see significant changes with - to date - eight departures and five new arrivals.
New signings like Michael Duffy and Conor Clifford have yet to win a league but Tallaght man Gannon, heading into his fourth season at Oriel Park, is impressed with what he has seen.
"They are all good lads that came in, they're hungry for success. Stephen has signed a lot of young players that are hungry to do well," says Gannon.
"Ever since we've won the league that question has been asked of us; are we hungry enough to do it again? But I think that's kind of the mentality in the whole dressing room and in the club.
"For us, what we did last year was brilliant but we can't just keep referring back to it. It's a clean slate now so we'll have to try and do it again. The league is going to be very competitive this year because teams around us have strengthened," added Gannon ahead of the opening game of the new season against Shamrock Rovers, which will be shown live on Eir.
Meanwhile, former League of Ireland man Ruairi Keating (21) has joined Conference side Torquay United after a successful trial. The Mayo lad previously played for Sligo Rovers, Galway United, and Finn Harps.
